Troup library present annual fall luncheon The Troup Library Fall Luncheon and Silent Auction takes place on November 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This favorite harbinger of fall fills every room of the library with spectacular gift items and fabulous food in the Friends of the Troup Library's biggest fundraiser of the year. Here's a chance to spend the Saturday before Thanksgiving picking up unique Christmas gifts and stocking up on special cakes, pies, and other food specialties of Troup's best cooks to enhance your Thanksgiving holiday as well. Jim Ainsworth, a popular East Texas author, will present the program. Writer of eight books, including three novels, one memoir, and four books about successful financial planning, he is in high demand as a speaker and some time ago passed the 300 mark on presentations. Fans include Troup favorite author Jane Roberts Wood, who wrote of his first novel: "I loved reading In the Rivers Flow. The images are fresh and original, the language just right . . . a rare and beautifully written book." The traditional spiced cider, served from 11:30 until noon, will put guests in the right mood to admire the gift items and place their bids before lunch. The auction's offerings are mostly handcrafted or home baked by friends of the library and will be on display in the library proper. The doors to the luncheon open at 12:00 noon. Carole Wilson and her daughters Ruth and Danna are chairing the luncheon committee this year. The menu promises to be delicious and beautifully presented. Sonja Roundtree is decorating the tables with displays promoting the season of bountiful harvests and blessings. Essie Massingill and Navoleine Roddy are cochairs for the auction. Tickets are on sale now for $12 each at the Troup Municipal Library and from supporters of the Library. To make reservations, call 903-842-3101. |
