Troup rebounded from last week's big loss to Elysian Fields to post an impressive win over Timpson on the road.

Quarterback Ryan Nichols led the Tigers to the 40-27 victory, earning a spot on the East Texas Honor Roll with a 170-yard passing performance.

Nichols completed 6-of-9 passes, including one touchdown throw to Reggie Wade, in his first varsity performance.

Wade continued to perform well for Troup, adding a rushing touchdown and a kick-off return score to his night's tally.

He had a total of 119 yards rushing, as the Tigers outpaced Timpson 253 to 211 on the ground and 423 to 363 total yardage.

Sophomore Der'rick Thompson added 86 rushing yards and a touchdown, while another addition from the Tiger JV, Ke Andre Davis, contributed 59 yards and a rushing TD.

The teams were tied 8-8 at halftime, but Troup put 12 unanswered points on the board in the third, before both teams exploded in fourth-quarter, with the Tigers outscoring their opponent 20-19 to earn the 40-27 win.

The win improves Troup's season record to 3-6 and the district mark to 2-4 as the team hosts its final home game Friday against Garrison.

Heading into that game, the Tigers have been led defensively by senior Thacher Riddle with 72 tackles (13 for losses), three sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Following Riddle, Taylor Beaty has 65 tackles, including eight for losses, and Cody Lepelley has 64 plus an interception.

Chris Lepelley adds nine tackles for losses, as well as causing three fumbles.

Wade leads his team in sacks with four, followed by Rony Johnson, Jeremy Richardson and Riddle, all with three.

A trio of Tigers joins Cody Lepelley with interceptions: Jordan Jackson, Daniel Dick and Joseph Noyola.

James Kenrick and Beaty also have one fumble recovery each.
