Eighth grade falls short

The Whitehouse eighth grade traveled to Marshall last week and came away on the bad side of lopsided games as the "B" team lost 44-0 and the "A" team fell to the Mavericks 52-8.

In the "B" game, Juan Martinez, Ryan Kellar, Connor Stubbs, and Corey Davis had good plays on defense while Taylor Parker completed passes to Davis and Martinez to pick up first downs on offense.

The "A" game started off great as RB Gunnar Dorsey went 75 yards on the Wildcats' first play from scrimmage for the score.

After that, QB Hunter Taylor hit Nick House for the twopoint conversion to give the Wildcats the early 8-0 lead.

Unfortunately, the game did not end then, and Marshall put up 52 unanswered points to win the game.

Offensively, Ross Viergever and Jordan Peoples had some good receptions, and Dorsey had several good runs, but the offense just could not get back into the end zone.

Defensively, the Wildcats had good performances from Dylan Horinek, Jacob Fulgham, Matthew Malcom, Justin Bloom, and Ethan Sala.

The Wildcats return to action tonight as they play their final season game at home against the visiting Nacogdoches Dragons. The kickoff for the "B" game is at 5:30 with the "A" game immediately following.
