Middle school Lady Tigers open season with wins

The middle school Lady Tigers opened their 2007-08 basketball season with a strong performance over West Rusk. The seventhgraders dominated, winning 30-3, and the eighth-grade team defeated their opponent, 37-23.

Leading scorers for the seventh grade were Wykina Caldwell with 12, Hunter Jordan 10, Darnesha Clayborne six and Amanda Sanford two.

Caldwell and Jordan also led in rebounding with 13 and 10, respectively. Clayborne also had a nice performance, coming up with six steals and committing no turnovers.

In the eighth grade victory, Keraveon Rodgers led the Lady Tigers with 17 points.

Other scorers were Taylor Martin, Brittany Alfred and Caitlyn Renson with four each; Amy Hill, Nesha Handy, Lauren Hugghins and Cheyenne Cover with two each.

Rodgers also pulled down 10 rebounds, and Martin recorded seven steals. Next up for the Lady Tigers is a road game with Tatum on Thursday, Nov. 15.
