Troup 7th-graders fall; 8th grade beats Timpson

The Tiger eighth-grade football team scored a convincing win over Timpson Thursday, while the seventh-grade team lost a hard-fought game against Tatum.
The eighth-graders soared to a 34-14 win behind a strong performance from quarterback Carson Clark. Clark ran for a one-yard TD and threw for two more. He was 4-of-5 passing for 84 yards.
Kirby Lyon was on the end of Clark's passes, catching two for TDs and two for two-point conversions.
James Jiles also added a rushing TD and a two-point conversion
score.
Deandre Hawkins and Dillon Goar were also offensive forces, with Goar and Rodney Anderson the defensive standouts.
In the seventh-grade contest, the Tigers fell 26-22 to Tatum. Seth Gibson rushed for three TDs and added two two-point conversions.
Hunter Clark set up one of Gibson's scores by stripping the Eagle punt returner of the ball and returning it 38 yards to the Tatum 11-yard line.
Wesley Thompson was another defensive standout.
