Martins celebrating 50th

Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Martin
Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Martin are celebrating 50 years of marriage. Charlie Martin and Ramona Russell were married Nov. 23, 1957 at Marvin Methodist Church in Tyler and had a reception at the Woman's Building on South Broadway Avenue. Fifty years later, on Nov. 17, the Woman's Building will be the site of an anniversary reception presented by children Jay and Marti and their families.

The Martins began their wedded life in Orange County, Calif., where Charles served in the U.S. Marine Corps. They lived in Santa Ana and Laguna Beach, Calif. Their first son, Jay, was born in California.

After the Marine Corps, the Martins moved back to the Tyler area, settling in Whitehouse. They were active in the Whitehouse Methodist Church and the PTA. They also helped organize the Athletic Booster Club and the first Boy Scout troop in Whitehouse, among other civic activities.

Currently retired, the Martins now reside in Tyler where they are active members of Bascom Methodist Church. They appreciate their blessings of eight grandchildren, Holli, Trevor, Josi, Ashley, Jeremy, Nathan, Blake and Whitney, and six great-grandchildren, Luke, Rilo, Breanna, Gracie, Andi and Kailey.
