Eighth-graders fall to Dragons

The Whitehouse eighth grade finished up its season last week taking on Nacogdoches here at Wildcat Stadium.

In the first quarter, the Wildcats scored their first touchdown behind the strong running of Gunnar Dorsey and then struck again on a 40-yard TD pass from QB A. J. Minter to Jonathan Aldridge.

However, Nacogdoches scored twice to tie the score at 12- 12 after the first period.

The Whitehouse special teams came up big in the second quarter as Justin Bloom forced a fumble on a punt, which was recovered by Ross Viergever.

The Wildcat offense could not convert the turnover into points, and the Dragons scored to take a 20-12 lead into the half.

The score stood headed into the fourth quarter, but the Wildcat offense got on a roll behind the running of Dorsey.

Nick House also got loose for a 10-yard run to set up a 9- yard scamper by Minter to end the scoring with the Cats coming up just short on a 26-20 loss to a solid Dragon team that claimed the 8th grade district title.

Defensive standouts for the Wildcats were Logan Liptak, Cody Malone, Brennon Eberhart, and Andrew Struble.

On the offensive side of the ball, Hunter George and Clayton Sims had solid performances along the offensive line.
