Ruth Hemby Campbell

Graveside services for Ruth Hemby Campbell, 79, of Troup were held Nov. 18, at the Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup, with the Reverend Maurice Barnes officiating. Burial was under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.

Mrs. Campbell died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 in a Tyler hospice. She was born April 1, 1928 in Mixon to the late George Erwin and Fannie Lorene Gee Hemby. She married Bill Campbell, March 7, 1946 in Tyler.

Mrs. Campbell was a longtime resident of Troup, moving back after her husband retired from the military. She was a graduate of Hagerman High School, New Mexico. She had been a clerk for Troup Bank and Trust and was a member of First Baptist Church, Troup.

She loved her family, playing bridge with friends, quilting and shopping with her sisters. She was a strong loving mother and wife and will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Stout and Louise Mills, and a granddaughter, Stormy Campbell.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Bill Campbell, Tyler; a son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Gilda Campbell, Galveston; a daughter and son-in-law, Margie and Robert Evans, Tyler; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Sam and Katie Hemby, Austin, and Bob Hemby, Troup; one sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Jake Florence, Arp; four grandchildren, Mark Evans and wife Michelle, Baytown, Matt Evans and wife Jody, Jacksonville, Ashley Hardman and husband Aubrey, Ft. Worth, Bailey Campbell, Galveston; greatgrandchildren, Sean Evans, Shannon Evans, Graham Evans, Steven Westbrook, Michael Westbrook, Allie Westbrook, Emily Westbrook, and Ali Hardman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
