TMS girls split with Eagles

The middle school Lady Tigers took on the Tatum Lady Eagles Tuesday, Nov. 13, with the eighth-grade (1-1) losing a one-point heartbreaker and the seventh grade (2-0) notching a solid victory, 29-18.

Wykina Caldwell shouldered the bulk of Lady Tiger scoring in the seventh grade game with 23 points, as well as 18 rebounds.

She and teammate Charisma McCowin both had five steals. McCowin also pulled down 9 boards.

Other Lady Tiger scorers were Amanda Sanford with 3 points, Hunter Jordan 2 and McCowin 1.

The eighth-graders fell short by one point, 33- 32, in their loss to Tatum.

Trailing 21-12 at half, the Lady Tigers stole the momentum and outscored their opponents 20-12 in the second half, only to fall short of the big comeback win.

Keraveon Rodgers led her team with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 7 steals.

Other contributors were Brittany Alfred (10 points, 5 boards and 7 steals), Taylor Martin (2 points, 7 boards), Lauren Hugghins (2 points) and Cheyenne Cover (1 point).

The Lady Tigers will have a rematch with West Rusk at home on Nov. 26. Games begin at 5 p.m.
