Troup Cares continues with toy drive Friday

Santa will be collecting toys Friday, Nov. 30 from 3-5 p.m. at the Troup Banking Center. The toys are for the Troup Cares project. Other items needed are new clothing, food and monetary donations for needy families in the Troup area.

Any gift items brought should be unwrapped. Refreshments will be available.

Any individual or group that would like to provide a Troup area child with a better Christmas is encouraged to adopt a child from the Angel Trees which will be erected in the lobbies of the Austin Bank, Troup and the Troup Banking Center, the Troup branch of the Kilgore National Bank, the week of Nov. 26.

Troup Cares encourages local churches to set aside next Sunday, Dec. 2, as Troup Cares Sunday and collect special offerings on behalf of Troup Cares. Monetary donations may be made through your church or directly to the Troup Cares account at the Austin Bank location in Troup or at the Troup Banking Center branch of the Kilgore National Bank.

Donations of food may be made at the Troup Brookshire's store through the Spirit of Christmas food drive or Troup school students who are conducting food drives on behalf of Troup Cares.

Troup Cares is soliciting donations of food, money and Christmas gifts to help provide a better Christmas for needy families in the Troup area. Last year, Troup Cares delivered boxes of food to 110 persons and spent almost $3900 for groceries, clothing and Christmas gifts.

Brookshire's Grocer y, through the Spirit of Christmas food drive provides packing materials and a Christmas hen for each box of food.

For those wishing to donate Christmas gifts, various high school groups will also be soliciting toys for benefit of Troup Cares.

The Tri County Leader is raising money for Troup Cares through its subscription drive.

All donations of food and money are used to assist those in the Troup area. To avoid duplication of ser vices, Troup Cares reviews each application for need and residency requirements and shares its list with other agencies, such as PATH.
