      Troup's varsity boys were downed by Grace Community School Tuesday, 62-54. Troup fought back in the second period for a halftime tie, but Grace outscored the Tigers in both the third and fourth quarters for the win.

Wildcat boys, girls win
      The Whitehouse Wildcats rebounded from an unexpected early loss to trounce John Tyler 78-53 at home Tuesday night. The teams were close in the early going, but Whitehouse JT pulled away to close the second and then outscored JT 48-31 in the second half.

Tiger JV struggling early
      The junior varsity boys Tiger team has had tough going in the early season, going 1-6 through the Rusk tournament. Coach Shane Chambless said the players need to improve their fundamentals as well as their teamwork and confidence in each other.

     Photo/Jim Jackson Jori Patterson handled the ball for the Whitehouse Ladycat JV. The girls have a 4-4 season record after going 1-2 in the Wills Point Tournament. Whitehouse defeated Parish Episcopal, 44-24, and then lost to Rockwall Heath, 44-14, and Edgewood, 38-36.

TMS boys split with Tatum
      Troup's middle school boys teams split with Tatum, as the seventh grade won 28-25 and the eighth grade lost 50-29. Bradley Stewart paced the seventh-grade team with 14 points, followed by Hunter Clark with 11, Ryan Powell 2 and Seth Gibson 1.

Wildcat JV wins golf title
      Led by freshman Chase Hood's stellar 83, the Whitehouse junior varsity golf team won the Pleasant Grove JV division on Tuesday. The Texarkana Golf Ranch hosted the field of 96 golfers. Whitehouse members and scores were Grant Smith 87, Shane Fulton 95, Erik Gentry 100 and Brady Boone 105.

      The Whitehouse JV and freshman teams both brought home tournament championships last weekend from the John Tyler Tournament. The JV claimed a first round win on Thursday beating Longview, 41-31, and then thumping TK Gorman, 64-38, on Friday to move into the championship.

Youthful Tiger basketball team shows a lot of heart in preseason
      With a new head coach at the helm and just two seniors on the team, the Troup Tigers are hoping to hit their stride and improve over a disappointing season last year. Despite a slow start, Coach Brent Smith said he is impressed with his team's effort and the development of the young players.

      The Troup Tigers boys basketball teams kicked off their season with games against Sabine on Nov. 20 and Mineola on Nov. 23. Against the Cardinals, the Tigers fell short, 69-42, with senior Reginald Wade pacing the team with 22 points.

Tatum sweeps TMS girls teams
      Despite disappointing outcomes, Troup Middle School's seventh and eighth grade girls teams played hard against rival Tatum Monday night, and made both games exciting down to the final buzzer. The seventh-graders started things off with a 25-22 loss.
