Whitehouse ISD chosen best public school district for second straight year

For the second year, readers of BSCENE magazine have chosen Whitehouse ISD as the best public school district for 2007. This was announced with pride during this week's Whitehouse ISD board of trustees meeting.

The meeting kicked off with a presentation of activities that have taken place recently at Cain Elementar y. They included Community Helpers week, a Veteran's Day parade and Literacy Night.

Principal Cyndy Josephson was pleased to point out to trustees that all of these events play a role in reaching one their campus goals which to increase par- ent involvement at the school.

During consent items that were all approved, several donations to the district were mentioned. They include $3228 donated by Whitehouse Athletic Booster Club, $300 donated by Lone Star Market, $100 donated by the Whitehouse Chamber of Commerce, $118.49 came from an anonymous donor for supplies at Cain and $38 for technology at Holloway came from the Funding Factory.

Business matters on the agenda included approval of Pat Pinkerton to ser ve on the Smith County Appraisal District Board of Directors for the term of Jan. 1, 2008 through Dec. 31, 2009.

The board also approved the 2007 certified tax roll in the amount of $17,309,912.47.

A report of how many hours of board training each trustee has was also presented.

Under policy matters, approval was given to the policy manual update that is available for review at the admin office.
