JV, freshmen tame Lions

The Whitehouse JV & freshman basketball teams were in action last Tuesday at Wildcat Arena as they played host to the John Tyler Lions.

In the freshman game, the Wildcats started out sluggish but played a better second half to pull away for a 56-46 win. The Wildcats had a balanced scoring attack led by Trey Metoyer with 16, Quincy Aldridge with 13 and Conner Cashion with 12. With the win, the freshman moved their early season record to 6-2.

The JV game was a repeat of the championship game in the John Tyler tournament played the previous Saturday. Once again, the Wildcats built a doubl-digit lead through the second half and then held on for a 58-50 victory.

Judd Jackson led the way in the scoring column with 16 and Justin Keller followed with 14 points. Skip Caldwell and Drew Flynn also chipped in 10 points and 7 points, respectively, in the win. The win improves the JV's record to 8-1 for the year.

Both teams play in the Longview tournament this weekend at Lobo high school before starting district action at home against Kilgore next Tuesday.
