Katherine Harris Gay

Services for Katherine Harris Gay, 81, of Lufkin were held Dec. 15 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Reverend Charles Roberts officiated and the eulogy was presented by Gwen Best. Interment was in the Old Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Gay was born March 23, 1926 in Nancy, the daughter of the lateMargaret (Howard) and John William Mullens. She died Dec. 12, 2007 at her daughter's residence in Salado. Mrs. Gay was a retired bookkeeper for the Lufkin Telephone Exchange. She was also a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Gay enjoyed crocheting, fishing and playing dominoes with her 42 Club. She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church and had resided in Lufkin most of her life.

Survivors include her husband, TJ. Gay of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Don Kennedy of Salado; daughter, Lea Harris of Vidor; stepson, Tom Gay of Whitehouse; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Beth and Ken Grace of Lufkin; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gay was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Harris, Jr., and by a brother, Bill Mullens.

Pallbearers were Johnnie Dunn, Joe Dunn, Ken Grace, Tom Gay, Scott Kennedy and Mike Sorrell.
