Ladycats drop close one to Nac, 48-42

Whitehuse evened its early district record at 1-all last Friday, dropping a close conference game to Nacogdoches, 48-42.

The Ladycats trailed early but took the halftime lead, 25-17.

A scoring drought in the third quarter (just two points) proved the difference, however, as Nac held on for the win.

Kayla Mason led her team with 19 points, including a perfect 7-of-7 at the free throw line. She also had 6 steals and 6 rebounds.

Alicia Cordova added 14 points and 11 boards.

Caroline Perrier chipped in 9 points.

"This was not a bad ballgame," said head coach Willie Hill. "We had good looks, but the ball just wouldn't fall. Our defense is still real solid; we just need to turn up our scoring output."

The JV also lost, 30-25, bringing their district record to 1-1 and the season mark to 6-8.

The Ladycats will host Jacksonville Friday, with the ninth grade playing at 5 p.m.
