Pollyanna auditions Jan. 7-8 at Rogers Children's Theatre Whether or not you have ever read "Pollyanna," the classic novel by Eleanor Porter, you will be glad you auditioned for a role in the theatrical adaptation of the book at the Rogers Children's Theatre. Auditions take place on Monday and Tuesday (Jan. 7-8) beginning at 7 p.m. Pollyanna, the play and the character, is funny, inspiring, and heartwarming. Ever ything about Pollyanna, known as "the glad girl," brightens up the lives of all with whom she interacts. And she interacts with almost everyone in her new hometown, and they are all glad, too. It's no stretch to know that Pollyanna will also make all those who participate in bringing her story to life on the stage glad they are part of this show. Kimberlee Martin, the director, is glad the play requires a large cast of adults, teenagers, and children. There are 16 major speaking roles and a large number of smaller parts, including those that do not speak. Characters' ages range from about five to quite elderly. Everyone is invited to the open auditions. For more information about the play and what to expect at the auditions - besides an enjoyable experience - please check the Theatre Center's website at www.tylercivictheatre.com. Pollyanna will play on two weekends - Feb. 22-24 and Feb. 29 through March 2. Friday and Saturday evening performances will begin at 7; Sunday matinees will begin at 2:00 p.m. The Rogers Children's Theatre is located at 400 Rose Park Drive at the intersection with West Front Street, within the Tyler Civic Theatre Center. It is next door to the Rose Museum and across Rose Park Drive from the Harvey Convention Center. There is ample free parking for the theater shows and auditions in this complex. |
