Cats freshman, JV boys begin district with wins

The Whitehouse JV & freshman basketball teams both began district play last week.

The week started out with Whitehouse hosting Kilgore at Wildcat Arena on Tuesday night. The freshman ran out to a 26-8 lead at the half on their way to a convincing 56-20 victory. Trey Metoyer lead a balanced scoring attack for the Wildcats with 15 points followed by Ryan Speake with 9 and Conner Cashion and Quincy Aldridge adding 8 points each.

The JV also had an easy time with the Bulldogs pulling away in the second half to post a 40-25 win. Justin Keller led the way with 18 points for the Cats. Skip Caldwell would add 9 points while Drew Flynn had 5 in the win.

On Friday night, Whitehouse traveled a hostile environment in Jacksonville. The freshman overcame a cold shooting half in the first half to build a 24-point lead midway through the fourth quarter before ending up with a 43-31 win. Metoyer had 19 points on the night while Cashion and Aldridge added 7 points each.

The JV game was close throughout but the Wildcats hit the big shots down the stretch to pull out a hard fought 47-39 win. Keller and Caldwell led the way with 15 and 14 points, respectively, while Judd Jackson had 7 points and Logan Taylor added 6 for the Wildcats.
