The ladies at Mamaw's Fried Pies are on the move. After their star-studded role with Bob Phillips on Texas Country Reporter, Sandra Harvell and Nell Hoce said they just had to expand.

Business is hopping with customers from all over Texas discovering the Whitehouse twins' secret recipe for success.

"We have put out a guest book after the show and there are names from Uvalde, Odessa, Orange, Houston and Dallas," said Martha Bickerstaff, Nell and Sandra's niece. "People are driving to Whitehouse just to buy their fried pies."

With the misfortune of one business closing, the Bayou Grill, comes a good opportunity for the sisters. Renovations are under way with hopes to open in the new location within the next two to three weeks.

In addition to those old-fashioned, handmade fried pies, Nell and Sandra will be expanding the menu to include cobblers and regular pies.

They plan a coffee bar along the north wall, seating for those who will want to eat and visit and an area that will be known as Mamaw's Country Store.

"We will carry some knick-knack items with a country look to them," Nell said. "Maybe even some local honey, jellies and jams."

With so many requests from across the state and the country coming in, the duo is going to try shipping the desserts starting in July.

"We'll be setting up this room just for shipping," Sandra said. "It will make it easy to go right out this back door to waiting shipping trucks."

Watch the signs at 904 Hwy. 110 North in Whitehouse for opening dates.
