Troup library celebrates winners
      Almost 100 people - young writers, their parents, and teachers - attended the 2008 Composition Competition Award Ceremony on May 10 at the Troup Municipal Library. They gathered to celebrate reading and writing and to honor all the young writers from the Troup and Arp Independent School Districts who entered the competition and especially the 31 who earned awards.

Troup serves summer meals
      The Troup Independent School district announces the sponsorship of the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided at the Troup High School Cafeteria, 927 Arp Dr., starting June 3- June 27. Breakfast serving time will be 7:30-8:15 a.m., lunch will be served 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Ward earns degree at Boston College
      Ian Thomas Ward, son of Agnes and Dr. Frank T. Ward of Whitehouse, was awarded a Bachelor of Science in management from Boston College on May 19. Ian is a graduate of Bishop T. K. Gorman High School, Tyler. At Boston College, he attended the Carroll School of Management. He concentrated in finance and economics.

Omen church honors Pastor Cline
      The Omen Missionary Baptist Church family will recognize their pastor, Kenith Cline, for 40 years of service to the Lord with a reception in his honor on Sunday, June 1 at 1:30 p.m. at Omen church. Friends and associates of Bro. Cline's are invited to attend.

Troup's '57-'58 classes hold reunion
      The Troup High School graduating classes of 1957 and 1958 held a reunion at the Cameron-J. Jarvis Library in Troup from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 24. The event was attended by between 40 and 50 enthusiastic individuals who came seeking to renew old friendships, relive pleasant memories and lay a foundation for future association in the days and years ahead.
