TWCO meets Monday

Troup Women's Civic Organization meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 23, 6:30 p.m. at the Troup Library. Guest speakers will be the 2007-08 scholarship recipients.

Vietnam Vets meet

Parkinsonians of East Texas meeting

Parkinsonians of East Texas will meet Thursday, June 26 at 2 p.m. at Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd (just across the road from UT Tyler.) The speaker will be Christine Morawski. Her topic will be understanding hospice and things you should know. Plenty of free parking. Snacks, coffee and tea will be available.

Lions Club golf scramble

The New Summerfield Lions Club is holding a fund-raiser golf scramble on June 28 beginning at 8 a.m. at The Woods golf course near Jacksonville. Player fee is $75 and registration can be completed by calling Jeffrey Looney at 903-586-3228.

Ren-dependence joust tournament

Four Winds Productions presents the Ren-dependence Joust Tournament and Fireworks show on Saturday and Sunday, June 28-29 from 4-10 p.m. at the Four Winds Faire site, 11 miles south of Tyler on Hwy. 110 S. turn right on CR 2138 and follow the signs. Adult admission is $10 and children $5, ages 4 and under get in free.

Fireworks and fun set for 4th

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will host their annual fireworks, food and fun night on Wednesday, July 4. Food and fun begin at 7 p.m. and include hot dogs, drinks, games and bounce house. Fireworks begin around 9 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

Whitehouse Community Library activities

The library announces the annual Summer Reading Program will kick off with a celebration on Saturday, June 21 from 10 a.m. until noon. This will be the Library's official registration day for the program even though many have already pre-registered. Reading Logs will be given out on this day.

WH Recycle Center

Regular hours of operation for the Whitehouse Recycle Center are on Wednesdays from 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. as well as the first and third Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Ave.

VFW Post 1799 open daily

VFW Post 1799 on Rhone Quarter Road opens daily at 2:30 p.m. for members and guests. Each day offers a different activity such as competitive pool, karaoke and social hour. For information visit WWW.vfw1799.org or call 903-561-3501.

Hillcreek hold VBS

Hillcreek Baptist Church is hosting "God's Big Back Yard" Vacation Bible School June 18-20 beginning at 5:30 p.m. each evening.

FBC hosts Power Lab VBS

First Baptist Church of Whitehouse at 801 E. Main will host their annual Vacation Bible School, June 23-27 from 9 a.m. to noon for completed grades Pre-K-5th. Register online at www.firstw.org.

VBS in Troup
