Community Activities

Vietnam Vets meet

Mamaw's ribbon cutting

The Whitehouse Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting for Mamaw's Fried Pies at 904 Hwy 110. North on Tuesday, July 22 at 5:15 p.m.

Community libraries

Annual Summer Reading Programs wind down at both the Whitehouse and Troup libraries. Whitehouse's program continues through July 23 while Troup finishes up with their Jubilee party on Saturday, July 19 at 10:30 a.m.

WH Recycle Center

Regular hours of operation for the Whitehouse Recycle Center are on Wednesdays from 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. as well as the first and third Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Ave.

Women's health seminar offered

"Finding Balance" is a seminar on women's health issues begin offered free of charge on Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. at Health Plus, 2010 Sybil Ln., Tyler. Facilitator is Brenda Flowers RN.

VFW Post 1799 open daily

VFW Post 1799 on Rhone Quarter Road opens daily at 2:30 p.m. for members and guests. Each day offers a different activity such as competitive pool, karaoke and social hour. For information visit www.vfw1799.org or call 903-561-3501.

Church Activities

PoP movie night

Prince of Peace Catholic Church continues to offer free movie nights. Friday, July 18 the movie will be St. Joan of Arc, Saturday, July 19 will be Padre Pio-Miracle Man. Movies are free. Pizza, soft drinks and popcorn are available for purchase or bring your own.

Sports Activities

Football officials needed

The Tyler-Lone Star Chapter of the Texas Association of Sports Officials are looking for adults 18 years of age or older who would be interested in officiating local junior high and high school football games this season. More information is available at www.tylerrefs.org. Meetings begin July 21.

Wildcats season tickets

Whitehouse High School football season tickets will go on sale in the Athletic Office Aug. 4-22. Previous season ticket holders may purchase their tickets from July 21-24. The packet contains tickets to six home games. The season tickets can be purchase for $30. If you have any questions, call 839-5538 or see www.whitehouseisd.org.
