WISD trustees approve GT program change
      With the expansion and realignment of campuses for fifth grade and below, many adjustments have been necessary to meet all the needs of all the students. One of those areas is the Gifted and Talented program. In the past these students were clustered by grade on each campus. With four elementary campuses, that will no longer be possible.

Summer blood drive targets area high school students
Donors will receive free movie tickets
      Carter BloodCare Stewart Center invites high school juniors and seniors to take part in a special blood drive Monday, July 28 from 1 to 7 p.m. The event is open to the community and will be held at Tractor Supply Company, located at 1626 S. Jackson St. in Jacksonville.

WHS grads receive UIL scholarships
      Andrea Crawford and Daniel Herrig, 2008 Whitehouse High School graduates, have been awarded scholarships by the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation. Crawford received a special one-year Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Herrig received the Frances F. Holloway Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,000.

Troup Middle School sets registration, orientation
      Registration for Troup Middle School students new to the district will be Aug. 12-13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration requires the student's bir th certificate, social security card, and withdrawal records from previous school.
