Community Activities

Outdoor warning system test

The City of Whitehouse test the outdoor warning siren system the first Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. Should there be inclement weather the testing will be postponed to the following month.

Dixie Masonic Lodge to meet

The Dixie Masonic Lodge #272 in Troup will meet Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. at the lodge hall.

Troup American Legion to meet

Troup American Legion will meet Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. at the legion hall.

Game Time for Seniors

Game Time for Senior Citizens will be Wednesday, Aug. 6 from 1-3 p.m. at the Troup library. All senior citizens are welcome to attend.

Troup Sons of the Legion to meet

Troup Sons of the Legion will meet Thursday, Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. at the legion hall.

TGHS August meeting

The Troup Genealogical Historical Society will meet Saturday, Aug. 9 at 2 p.m. in the Troup library. Ruth Stone Sheppard will be relating her memories of growing up in Red Oak Flat and Screech Owl Bend. Refreshments will be served and everyone is welcome to attend and bring a friend.

WH Recycle Center

Regular hours of operation for the Whitehouse Recycle Center are on Wednesdays from 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. as well as the first and third Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Avenue.

Church Activities

PoP movie night

Prince of Peace Catholic Church continues to offer free movie nights. Friday night's movie will be "Therese" reflecting on the life and spiritual journey of the Carmelite nun and Saint. Saturday will be a repeat showing of "St. John Bosco." Movies are free and begin at 7 p.m. Pizza, soft drinks and popcorn are available for purchase or bring your own.

Bluegrass gospel music at Mixon

Mixon Missionary Baptist Church is hosting Bluegrass Gospel Music and supper on Saturday, Aug. 2. Supper starts at 4:30 p.m. followed by the music at 6. The church is located on Hwy 135N between Troup and Jacksonville. Call Ms. Kirby 903-842- 4774 for more information.

Whitehouse UMC hosts breakfast

The First United Methodist Church of Whitehouse hosts breakfast the first Saturday of the month from 8-10 a.m. A full breakfast meal is served and donations are accepted. The church is located at 405 W. Main.

FBC block party

Food, fun and music will fill the lawn of the First Baptist Church of Whitehouse on Sunday, Aug. 3 at 5 p.m. This community block party includes lots of school supply giveaways. Everyone is welcome!

Forerunners meet

The adult Forerunners will meet for a noon covered dish luncheon Monday, Aug. 4 at the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church. Glenda Barren will bring the program "God made women and shoes too!"

Government Activities

Town Center meeting

Whitehouse community members and especially property owners along FM 346 in the designated Town Center area are urged to attend a Town Hall type meeting Monday, Aug. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 311 E. Main.

Whitehouse City Council to meet

Whitehouse City Council will meet Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. in the Whitehouse City Council and Court chambers at 311 E. Main. This is a special meeting relating to the proposed budget and tax rate.
