Curtis Williams, principal of the new Stanton-Smith Elementary School in Whitehouse, asked WISD trustees to allow him a moment to speak during the special called meeting Monday night. Williams took the opportunity to thank all of the other principals, faculty, employees and administration for making the first day of classes at the new school a wonderful success. More ... Life has been a bit of roller coaster ride over the past weeks for the Kinney family of Whitehouse. Their son, Ian Seth, came on the scene much earlier than expected but is growing and improving every day. Brian and Tina Scott Kinney and their first son Zane welcomed Seth into the world June 30 but he was not due until Aug. 20. More ... Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jimerson of Mixon will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Aug. 29. Roy Dean Jimerson and Beverly Ann Knight Jimerson were high school sweethearts and were married in 1958. The couple resides in Mixon. Roy was employed and retired from Wise Drilling Company. Beverly worked in the banking industry and retired after 40 years. More ... Last year, baby Ethan Powell of Flint was diagnosed with infant Acute L ymphoblastic Leukemia. When arriving at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, he was only expected to live 72 hours, and yet on Dec. 5, Ethan celebrated his first birthday. More ... C.L. and Billie Jean Guthrie Mason celebrated their 50th anniversary with a trip to Bossier City, La. C.L. and Billie met each other at church and married about nine months later. They settled in Troup and started their own dairy business which they operated for over 30 years. C.L. is currently working at Troup Auto Service and Billie is enjoying retirement. They have three sons: Jimmy Mason of Arp and David and Jason Mason of Troup. They have 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. More ... Rebekah Ann Sutton is excited to introduce her little brother Avery Reese Sutton. Proud parents are Trae and Bethany (Goines) Sutton of Temple.
