Community Activities

Parkinsonians of East Texas meets Thursday

Parkinsonians of East Texas will meet Thursday, Aug. 28 at 2 p.m. at Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd. The speaker will be physical therapist David Bulls. His topic will be "Parkinson disease - Balance and Falling Issues."

Outdoor warning system test this week

The City of Whitehouse test the outdoor warning siren system the first Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. Should there be inclement weather the testing will be postponed to the following month.

Dixie Masonic Lodge meet Tuesday

The Dixie Masonic Lodge #272 in Troup will meet Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. at the lodge hall.

Troup American Legion to meet

Troup American Legion will meet Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. at the legion hall.

Senior Game Time Wednesday

Game Time for Senior Citizens will be Wednesday, Sept. 2 from 1-3 p.m. at the Troup library. All senior citizens are welcome to attend.

Troup Sons of the Legion to meet

Troup Sons of the Legion will meet Thursday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. at the legion hall.

Yoga class Monday

Yoga class meets each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the youth wing of First Baptist Church of Whitehouse. There is no fee for the class. Bring your own yoga mat, towel and bottle of water. There is no child care available at this time.

Ambassador Baptist Church returns home

Worship services will resume at 10495 CR 2167 (Jim Russell Rd.) for the congregation of Ambassador Baptist Church.

Bascom UMC hosts breakfast

The Bascom United Methodist Church on FM 848 hosts breakfast the last Saturday of the month from 8:30 -10 a.m. A full breakfast meal is served and donations are accepted.

Faith Mission Church dedication set

The Faith Mission Church in Bullard will be holding their opening ceremony services beginning Thursday, Aug. 28 - Saturday, Aug. 30. Services begin at 7:30 p.m. The church dedication will be held on Sunday, Aug. 31 with that service beginning at noon.

Omen Missionary Baptist Revival begins

The Omen Missionary Baptist Church at 17912 CR 285 in Arp is hosting a revival Aug. 31-Sept 5. Sunday service will meet at 6 p.m. with Monday-Friday services beginning at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

Mt. Carmel begins 40 Days of Community

Mt. Carmel Baptist Church begins the "40 Days of Community" on Sunday, Sept. 7. This program moves people from focusing on God's purposes in their personal lives to focusing on God's purposes in their church and community. For information on this event call 903-839-2606.

Moms in Touch seeks participants

Those interested in participating in a Moms in Touch groups or helping form groups on Whitehouse campuses, contact Roberta Beams at 903-839-4361 or rbeams13@suddenlink.net.

Troup cheerleaders sell shirts

THS Cheerleaders are selling 2008 Football Roster t-shirts for $13. Sizes are available for Youth S-Adult XL. Larger sizes are available for a slightly higher price. If you would like one, email kmarshall@troupisd.org or contact her at the high school.

WJHS meet the teacher Tuesday

Whitehouse Junior High Meet the Teacher night is set for Tuesday, Sept. 2 from 6-8 p.m.

WHS reunion seek classmates

WHS classes of 1970-1975 are seeking contact information on former classmates. Visit their website at www.classcreator.com/Whitehouse-Tx-1974 to pass along information and see what the plans are for the Sept. 20 reunion.

Government Activities

Troup City Council holds public hearing

Troup City Council will hold two public hearings concerning the proposed tax rate. They are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28 and Tuesday, Sept. 2. The meeting will be held at the Troup ISD Administration Office at 201 N. Carolina.

Town Center meetings continue

Whitehouse community members and especially property owners along FM 346 in the designated Town Center area are urged to attend a Town Hall type meeting Thursday, Sept. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 311 E. Main. The purpose of this meeting is to gain information and offer constructive input to the plan, in process, of a design style for that area.
