Meals on Wheels drivers for Whitehouse were surprised last week with gift bags from members of the Williams 40 Days of Love small group of First Baptist Church. As part of the 40 Days of Love study, each group was allowed to choose its own recipient of good will, and the Williams small group decided to reward the service of the Meals on Wheels drivers, who donate their time and pay for their own gas. "We all just appreciate them," said member Jonnie Canfield. Other class members are Lisa and Terry Williams, Jan and Pat Powell, Jonie and Bill Burkett and Lynn Canfield. An 18-wheeler carrying logs took the turn at the corner of Duval and Hwy. 135 (Arp Drive) too fast and overturned Tuesday morning. Workers had to clear the logs from the trailer before the truck could be righted. Troup Police Sgt. Shawn Murry said the only reported injury was a broken finger to the driver of the truck. More...
