Troup employee honored
Voigt receives 5-year service award
      Austin Bank recently honored Janice Voigt, a teller and part-time customer ser vice representative in Troup, at its 2008 Service Award Luncheon. Voigt was recognized for five years of ser vice. She was among 36 bank employees feted for outstanding service and longevity on the job at a luncheon held Dec.4 4 at Cascades Club in Tyler.

Troup Rotary Club goes to the dogs
      Shari Curran, Linda Scoggin and Kelson brought the program for a recent Troup Rotary Club meeting. They are members of the all-volunteer Therapet organization. Curran, the executive director of Therapet is a registered occupational therapist.

HAYRIDE WITH SANTA
     The Whitehouse Community Library held its annual Hayride with Santa Dec. 20. This year's hayride was a wonderful success with more participants than ever. The children visited and had their picture made with Santa, then they caroled through the neighborhoods on the way to Oak Brook Health Care Center. Upon arrival the children and their parents began caroling and delivering books and candy canes to the residents. On the return to the Library, cookies and hot chocolate or apple cider were waiting.

Hannon home for holidays
      Dustin Ross Hannon, a 2005 graduate of Whitehouse High School and the son of Rick and Tina Penney of Whitehouse, has been stationed at GTMO, Cuba for the last 14 months and will be home for 13 days during the Christmas holidays.
