WH freshman, JV return to action The Whitehouse JV & freshman basketball teams got back on the court last Friday night hosting Pine Tree after the annual holiday break. The rust from the break showed with the freshman team as the Wildcats managed only 20 points in the first half but Pine Tree was even rustier and Whitehouse took a 20-9 lead into the half. But the rust wore off in the second half and the Wildcats pulled away for a 50-26 win to move to 3-0 in district play. Trey Metoyer and Conner Cashion provided the scoring punch for the night with 18 and 13 points, respectively while Shundrick Beasley provided support off of the bench with 8 points. The JV game proved to be an exciting one even though early on Whitehouse took a 24- 14 lead into the half behind the shooting of Justin Keller and Skip Caldwell. However, the visiting Pirates cut into the lead during the third quarter but could not make up the halftime deficit and the Wildcats squeaked out a 50-45 win to also remain undefeated in district play. Keller finished the game with 18 points while Caldwell added 12 in the win. Both squads hit the road tomorrow night as they travel to Henderson. The freshman game starts at 5 p.m. |
