TUESDAY BASKETBALL SCOREBOARD
      Whitehouse 96, Marshall 67 Third-ranked Whitehouse remained unbeaten in district play with the win. Jacob Holmen led the offensive attack with 30 points and Cade Clark added 22 points for the Wildcats (19-1, 6-0).

     Haley Terry, 14-year-old WHS freshman cheerleader, took her first deer recently. While hunting with her grandpa Alan Haynes in Concho County, Terry shot this 11-point buck. She and her mom also bagged their first turkeys on this hunt.

Girls blank Marshall
SOCCER
      The Ladycats opened their first home game of the season Tuesday night at Wildcat Stadium. Only two minutes into the game, Kelli Hill scored her team's first goal unassisted. She was shortly followed by a Lindsay Pritchard goal assisted by Kayla Melton.

WH boys notch district win, 2-0
SOCCER
      Whitehouse won its first District 14-4A game of the year, 2- 0, against Marshall Tuesday. Payne Stinchfield scored on Julio Alleman assist in the 22nd minute of the first half, and then Tanner Hays scored on an assist by Mitchell Muller in the second half with three minutes to play.

Whitehouse, Nac to meet in district showdown Friday
      The Whitehouse Wildcats, fresh off an 87- 41 pounding over Henderson last Friday night, face the team they are tied with in District 12- AAAA with identical 5-0 records: the Nacogdoches Dragons. Whitehouse, currently ranked #5 in class AAAA by the TABC, has an overall record of 18-1.

Four Cats make All State team
Sports banquet slated Jan. 24
      Four members of the 10-2 2007 Wildcats have been named to the Associated Press' All State football team. "This is quite an honor," said head coach and athletic director Randy McFarlin. "It's also impressive. In years past, we've been lucky to get one on the All State team.

      The varsity Ladycats claimed third place in their first tournament outing at Pine Tree. The hosts won first place, with Longview finishing second. Tigers net win
      Troup followed its big win over Timpson with another decisive victory, dropping the Garrison Bulldogs 66-45 last Friday. The home victory boosted the Tiger district record to 2-3. Garrison held the lead, 15- 11, after the first quarter, but the Tigers outscored the Bulldogs from there on.

Ladycats dominate Henderson
      With four players scoring in double figures, the Ladycats varsity girls hammered the Henderson Lady Lions 47-20 last Friday. Caroline Perrier, Kayla Mason and Alicia Cordova all chipped in 11 points, followed by Shelly Williams with 10.

Henderson falls in early scrimmage
      The varsity Ladycat soccer team opened their season on Jan. 8 with a win over Henderson. The first score was made early in the game with a breakaway by Lindsey Pritchard. The girls continued to dominate and maintained play on the Henderson end of the field throughout the rest of the first half.

Take down Henderson and undefeated Hallsville
      The Whitehouse freshman basketball boys remained undefeated last week with wins over Hallsville and Henderson. In the home game against Hallsville last Tuesday, the Wildcats were paced by Quincy Aldridge's 16 points in a 49-23 win.

      The Wildcat JV boys basketball team remained unbeaten in district play last week as they picked up a home win over Hallsville before a blow out victory on the road at Henderson.

Middle school girls sweep Garrison
      Troup's middle school Lady Tigers scored wins over Garrison on Thursday, Jan. 10. Both games were close, with the seventh winning 17-14 and the eighth grade triumphing 20-19. Wykinia Caldwell had a big game for the seventh grade, scoring 10 points, pulling down 8 rebounds and nabbing 7 steals.

Seventh-graders place 2nd in tourney
      The Tiger seventh grade boys team finished second in the Troup junior high tournament, held last Saturday. Rusk won the seventh grade division with T.K. Gorman and Brook Hill rounding out the top four. The eighth-grade team finished fourth behind first place Brook Hill, T.K.

      Playing in one of the state's toughest district's, the Troup Tigers placed 11 players on the All District team for District 19- 2A. Receiving first team offensive honors were running back Thacher Riddle and center Jared Ayres.

Attaway leads District 12-4A
      Fourteen Wildcats earned a spot on the District 12-4A All District team, with junior quarterback Brady Attaway receiving MVP honors. Attaway completed 248 of 403 pass attempts for 3,127 yards. He three 39 touchdown completions and averaged 260 yards per game, with a longest pass of 68 yards.

Boys falter at Pine Tree
      The Wildcat varsity soccer team faced stiff competition at the Pine Tree Tournament last week. The team finished 1-2-1, with head coach Chris Clemons singling out goalie Colton Strother for an outstanding overall performance.
