Middle school girls sweep Garrison

Troup's middle school Lady Tigers scored wins over Garrison on Thursday, Jan. 10. Both games were close, with the seventh winning 17-14 and the eighth grade triumphing 20-19.

Wykinia Caldwell had a big game for the seventh grade, scoring 10 points, pulling down 8 rebounds and nabbing 7 steals.

Hunter Jordan added 6 points and 5 steals, while Carisma McCown hit one free throw.

Keraveon Rodgers had the hot hand for the eighth grade, scoring 12 points. She also grabbed 5 boards and had 3 steals.

Caitlyn Renson was the top rebounder with 6; she also had 4 points and 4 steals.

Other scorers were Brittany Alfred and Nesha Handy with 2 points each.

Taylor Martin had 4 steals, followed by Alfred and Handy with 3 each.

The wins boosted the teams' non-tournament records to 5-2 (seventh) and 4-3 (eighth).

The girls are back in action at home today against Elysian Fields.
