Junior high Ladycats return to action The eighth grade girls teams at Whitehouse Junior High School are back in action after the Christmas break. The eighth-grade A team scored a 35-34 win over McMichael on Jan. 10. Erica Jordan had a big game with 12 points. Other scorers were Shelby Galloway with 8, Taylor Burkett 7, Celeste Willis 5 and Rachel Garlitz and Chestley Strother with 4 each. In the B game, Whitehouse won 22-20. In a balanced scoring attack, the Ladycats led by Sierra Kennedy with 6 points, Hannah Richardson 4 and Madison Melrose 3. Four Ladycats had 2 points each: Taylor Allen, Courtney Carter, Kirsti Molloy and Michelle Stewart. The eighth-graders also competed in the Linday Tournament Jan. 12. The A team lost its first game, 36-25, to Jacksonville and then bounced back with a 21-17 win over Chapel Hill. The B team soundly defeated Jacksonville, 33-8, before losing to Lindale, 26-14. Prior to the holidays, the seventh grade B team took part in the Athens Tournament. The undefeated girls downed Rains 36-8, Mabank 35- 9 and All Saints 25-11 to claim the championship. Angela Knight scored 6 points in the All Saints contest. The seventh grade B team is 7-0 on the year. The A team is 1-3. For the eighth-graders, the A team is 4-3 and the B team is 6-2. |
