Souper Sunday set Feb. 3

Enjoy Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 3 with a great lunch at the Troup Librar y. There the Friends of the Troup Library will be serving a different kind of bowl - steaming cups of Super Soup - from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

A favorite event in Troup, Souper Sunday is a fun community get-together that helps raise needed funds for the Troup Municipal Library.

The full meal will include a choice of five or more substantial soups, accompanied by a variety of crackers; a choice of many taste-tempting pies and cakes; and coffee, tea, or fruit punch.

Adults can "soup up" for only $5 each. Children under 10 will pay only $3.

"Enjoy a great meal for only $5 and get home in plenty of time to watch the football game," said Navoleine Roddy, co-chair of the 2008 Souper Sunday committee. "And you won't have to cook or clean up your own kitchens," she adds.

In 2005, the Friends of the Library did not offer the Souper Sunday event, and many of the Friends of the Troup Library members were taken to task for the omission of the three-year tradition. Last year, Souper Sunday returned, bigger than ever, and the working committee hopes for even more super soupers this year.

Tickets are on sale now at the Troup Library and from Souper Sunday committee members. Guests can also buy their tickets at the door on February 3. The Troup Municipal Library is located at 102 South Georgia, just south of the four-way stop sign.
