Oscar E. Moler

Services for Oscar E. Moler, 88, of Troup were held Jan. 17, at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup, with Drew Ratcliff and Gary Chesshir officiating.

Burial was in the Gossett's Chapel Cemetery, Jacksonville.

Mr. Moler died Jan. 14, 2008 in a Tyler hospital.

He was born Aug. 11, 1919, in Spencerville, Okla., to the late James T. and Willamina Neirmeyer Moler.

Mr. Moler was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps as a Sergeant Major of the 20th Fighter Group. He retired in 1979 from the Schnadig Corporation following 25 years of employment. He was a member of the Gossett's Chapel Church of Christ.

He married Verda Duvall, Dec. 13, 1941 in Rusk.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters, Preston Moler, Ellen Cook, Jean Odom, Annie Alexander, Lucy Lindsey and Billy Fred Moler.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Verda Duvall Moler, Troup; a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Elaine Moler, Arp; a daughter, Regina Gray, Henderson; one brother, John Moler, Priest River, Idaho; two sisters, Odell Sessions, Tyler, and Elizabeth Henderson, Jacksonville; three grandchildren and spouses, Catherine and Chad Conner, Galveston. Carrie and Chris Tutt, Temple, and Jimmy Dale Moler, Mesquite; and one great-grandson, Maddox Conner.

Pallbearers were Bill Peevy, Richard Cameron, Michael George, Jody Smith, Larry Smith and James Walker.
