WH teams boast five #1 seedings
DISTRICT SWIMMING MEET

Whitehouse High School swim teams have five first place seedings heading into Saturday's district meet at Nacogdoches. Seedings are based on event times from meets held prior to district.

On the girls team, senior Brittany Wilkens has first place seedings in both the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke.

Freshman Nikki Fulps is seeded first in the 100 butterfly and second in the 100 breaststroke.

Junior Brittany Wink is seeded third in the 200 IM and third in the 100 backstroke.

Senior Lydia Uribe is new to the team and is seeded with no times for the 50 and 100 freestyle events. The district meet will be her first.

Sophomore Catherine Drott is seeded sixth in the 50 freestyle and fifth in the 100 backstroke.

Wikens, who garnered sixth place in the breaststroke at last year's state meet, will also participate in the 200 individual medley relay. The Whitehouse team is ranked second in both the IM relay and the 400 freestyle relay.

On the boys team, junior Phillip Shafer is seeded first in the 50 freestyle and third in the 100 freestyle.

Junior Nathan Fulps is seeded first in the 200 IM and second in the 100 breaststroke.

Junior Andrew Drott has seedings of ninth in the 50 freestyle and sixth in the 100 backstroke.

Junior Peyton Lilly is seeded 15th in the 50 freestyle and 13th in the 100 freestyle.

Sophomore Will Post is seeded fourth in the 200 freestyle and third in the 100 butterfly.

Sophomore Kyle Cafourek is seeded 12th in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events.

The boys are seeded second in the 200 IM relay and third in the 200 freestyle relay.

The Whitehouse swim teams will compete against district opponents Nacogdoches, Athens, Chapel Hill, Mabank and Red Oak at Saturday's meet. The top six finishers in each event will move on to regionals, to be held in Houston on Feb. 8- 9.

From regionals, the top-place finisher and the next fastest eight times from across the state move on to the state com- petition, to be held in Austin on Feb. 22-23.

Both girls and boys teams placed third overall at last year's district meet.
