Lois Pearl Ellis

Memorial services for Lois Pearl Ellis, 84, of Abilene formerly of Tyler, were held Jan. 29 at First Baptist Church of Abilene with Dr. Phil Christopher officiating. Mrs. Ellis died Jan. 26, 2008. Arrangements are under direction of Hamil Family Funeral Home, Abilene.

Entombment will be private.

She was born March 7, 1923 in Rusk to the late Earl Bell and Katie B. Langston Sword. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Abilene since 1945 and taught Sunday school for 21 years, sang in the choir for 44 years, served Wednesday night meals for 45 years, and was a member of Adult I Sarah Sunday School Class. She volunteered at Abilene Regional Medical Center for 17 years and RSVP for 17 years, and was also a member of China Painting Club.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Leslie Stewart Ellis, Abilene; daughter, Pamela Kay Deffenbaugh, Abilene; son, Larry Earl Ellis, White- house; brothers, Trocye Sword, Tyler, and Winnon Earl Sword, Flint; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
