WH swim teams place 3rd in district

Eight Whitehouse High School swimmers have qualified for regionals as both the girls and boys teams captured third place at Saturday's district meet in Nacogdoches.

With five first-place seedings going into the meet, the WHS swimmers captured six gold medals.

GIRLS Senior Brittany Wilkens - gold medal performance in the 200 IM (2:21.52)and the 100 breaststroke(1:11.26).

This was Wilkens' third straight year to claim the 100 breaststroke district championship and the second for the 200 IM.

Senior Lydia Uribe - seventh place in the 50 freestyle(37.55) and eighth place in the 100 freestyle(1:36.14)

Junior Brittany Wink - fourth place in the 200 IM(2:40.83) and a bronze medal in the 100 backstroke(1:15.92)

Sophomore Catherine Drott - fifth place in the 50 freestyle(30.61) and the 100 backstroke(1:18.79)

Freshman Nikki Fulps - silver medal performance in the 100 Breaststroke(1:12.47) and a gold medal performance in the 100 butterfly(1:04.84).

Fulps was also honored as Newcomer of the Meet.

The realy team (Wilkens, Fulps, Drott and Wink) won a gold medal in the 200 IM relay( 2:07.28), and a silver medal in the 400 freestyle relay( 4:12.33).

Wilkens, Uribe, Drott and Fulps will swim for Whitehouse in the regional meet.

BOYS Junior Phillip Shafer - gold medal performance in the 50 freestyle(23.57) and silver medal in the 100 freestyle(52.47)

Junior Nathan Fulps - gold medal in the 200 IM(2:13.59) and a silver medal performance in the 100 breaststroke( 1:08.51)

Junior Andrew Drott - eighth place in the 50 freestyle(27.46), and fourth place in the 100 backstroke( 1:09.98)

Junior Peyton Lilly - 14th place in the 50 freestyle(35.09) and 13th place in the 100 freestyle(1:18.85)

Sophomore Will Post - seventh place in the 200 freestyle(2:23.91) and fourth place in the 100 butterfly( 1:06.64)

The relay team (Fulps, Shafer, Drott and Post) won a silver medal in the 200 IM relay(1:54.49), and a silver medal in the 200 freestyle relay(1:42.48).

Shafer, Fulps, Drott and Post will swim for Whitehouse at the regional meet, which will be Feb. 8-9 in Houston.
