Eighth grade A team on the top

The boys A team at Whitehouse Junior High School is having a strong year, with the team forging a 7-3 record through last Thursday's contest with Lufkin.

The team is undefeated against their district foes, however, with the district tournament scheduled Feb. 7 and 9 at WJHS.

Leading the charge for the A team has been Jonathan Aldridge, averaging 16.8 points per game (not including Lufkin).

Through the first nine games of the season he failed to score in double figures just once, with high scores of 24 points and 23 points against Lufkin and Moore respectively.

Aldridge has also nailed 11 three-pointers.

While Aldridge may be the team's leading scorer, he's not alone in scoring. As a whole, the A team is averaging 41.2 points a game, while their opponents average 31.8.

The teams three defeats have come at the hands of Lufkin (twice) and Moore.

The most recent loss was last Thursday, when the boys hosted Lufkin and fell 43-37.

The teams split two other meetings, with Whitehouse winning their first match-up 50- 38, before narrowly losing 35- 33.

Moore also handed the team a 48-40 loss, despite Aldridge's 23 points.

The teams wins include: Whitehouse 42, Nacogdoches

McMichael 22

Aldridge scored 15 followed by Nick House with 7.

Whitehouse 38,

Jacksonville 28

Aldridge chipped in 20 with Gunnar Dorsey adding 7.

Whitehouse 50, Lufkin 38

Aldridge's season high of 24 came in this big win, with A.J. Minter adding 11.

Whitehouse 38, Henderson 18

Aldridge and Minter again led scoring, with 16 and 11 points respectively.

Whitehouse 33, Nac Moses 31

Aldridge, Minter and Dorsey combined for 28 points in the win.

Whitehouse 48,

Nac McMichael 20

Four Cats scored 6 points each to lead the team: Aldridge, Dorsey, Jordan Peoples and David George.

Whitehouse 53, Jacksonville 35

Aldridge hit 17, Peoples 8 and Minter and Dorsey 6 each.

The eighth grade B team has had a tougher time, going 2-8 on the year.

The B team lost to Lufkin last week 21-14.

Brandon O'Neal has been the team's leading scorer.
