Cafeteria serves parents online

Troup ISD and food service director Rene Medford have implemented "Lunch Money Now," a software program which permits parents to access their student's cafeterian account via the Internet. Linked from Troup's home page (www.troupisd.org), it provides the ability to view the student's account balance, view/print the student's recent purchase history and make deposits to the child's meal account using a debit or credit card.

Deposits are recorded on a secure (SSL) site and are typically available on the student's account within the hour of the transaction. Lunch Money Now allows deposits to multiple accounts with a single credit card transaction.

Troup ISD joins more than 65 other school districts in Texas using Lunch Money Now. The service has been popular with students and parents because of its convenience and with employees because it saves time and reduces the need to handle cash.

The program also allows parents to subscribe to an email warning that alerts them if their child's account dips below a specified amount.
