Tigers topple Timpson

Girls celebrate senior night
Seniors Janna Ross, Stasinie Hunter, Casey Smith and Alysha Barton played their last home game in style, dominating the Timpson Lady Bears en route to a 45-21 win.
Although out of the playoff picture, the Lady Tigers improved to 8-5 and were poised to finish their first year under head coach Mitchell Davis on a positive note.
Janna Ross had one of her best nights, finishing with 26 points.
Niecy Stewart added 7, Smith chipped in 3 and four Lady Tigers each added a deuce: Hunter, Lauren Fite, Lauren Worl and Pockett Franklin.
Things started of f close enough, with the two teams trading baskets until Timpson earned its only lead of the night at 8-7.
Troup quickly reclaimed the lead with a basket by Smith and a nice turnaround jumper by Worl to end the first quarter (11- 8).

From this point, the Lady Tigers never looked back, claiming a halftime lead of 23-9 and continuing to apply pressure and create turnovers.
Ross had 11 points in the first half and 15 in the second to lead all scorers.
Boys claim third victory
Troup's varsity Tigers grabbed a much-welcome third district win Friday with a 79-49 thrashing of Timpson.
Senior Reginald Wade poured in 27 to lead all scorers, with Der'Rick Thompson adding 16 and Jake Johnson 10.
Jeremy Richardson chipped in 9, Cody Lepelley 8 and Nick Reeves 7.
Lepelley had two three-pointers, with Wade and Thompson each adding one.
After an even first quarter (14-all) Troup pulled ahead for a 22-11 halftime advantage.
The Tigers kept the pressure on, outscoring Timpson 25-13 in the third and 18-11 in the final period.
