Ladycats pull out big win

Needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, the Whitehouse Ladycats narrowly slipped by Hallsville Friday, 48- 46. Shelly Williams hit five threepointers as she and teammate Alicia Cordova both scored 16 points to lead the Ladycats. Kayla Mason added 12 points. One of three seniors honored that night, Mason also grabbed 5 steals and pulled down 10 rebounds. With Hallsville and Whitehouse tied in the district standings, the Ladycats were in a must-win situation at home. With two wins over Hallsville in the regular season, the Ladycats secured the rights to third place. "We are focused with a goal in sight," said head coach Willie Hill. "Our defense has put us in this position, and we will ride it and see how far it will carry us." The Ladycats also downed Pine Tree last week, 51-21. Cordova scored 14 and Mason added 11 points in the easy win. The victories improved the Ladycats to 9-4 in district, with only Henderson remaining.
