Hallsville hands frosh first loss;
Metoyer scores 35 against PT

The Whitehouse freshman boys' basketball team dropped their first district game of the season last Friday in Hallsville in a tough 55-53 loss.

Earlier that week, they traveled to Pine Tree and rode Trey Metoyer's 35 points on the way to a 75-44 win. The Cats jumped out to a 35-9 lead at the half and never looked back as Ryan Speake poured in 15 points and Terrance Franklin and Conner Cashion added 12 and 9, respectively, in the win.

Then came a tough road game at Hallsville. The Wildcats found themselves down 8 early and then down 10 with 3:30 left in the game but were able to get close only to end up losing by 2 at the end. Metoyer and Cashion carried the load for the Cats with 25 and 23 points, respectively, but it was not quite enough to keep the undefeated district record intact.

The freshmen return to action tomorrow night as they play host to the visiting Marshall Mavericks with game time set at 5 p.m.
