Junior high Ladycats ready for district tourney

Whitehouse's junior high girls finished regular season with strong performances, especially the eighth grade B team which won three straight to end the year, and the seventh grade B team, which completed a perfect season.
Both the B teams finished as their zone champions.
The eighth grade A team, 6- 5 on the year, finished second in its zone and will play in the district tournament Saturday, Feb. 9, in Jacksonville.
The seventh grade A team posted the only losing record, going 1-4 against tough competition.
Eighth Grade A
The eighth grade Ladycats split their final four games, losing to Jacksonville and Lufkin before earning wins over Henderson and Moses to end the regular season.
Jacksonville won big, 54-11. Despite the loss, Chestley Strother had a good game, with 7 points, and Kayla Farley and Rachel Garlitz added 2 each.
The girls stayed close with Lufkin before falling 37-31. Erica Jordan had the hot hand with 15 points, followed by Strother with 8 and Garlitz 4.

The Ladycats downed Henderson 30-18, led by Burkett's 15 points.
Shelby Galloway chipped in 6, followed by Jordan with 5 and Strother with 4.
Two players scored in double figures as the girls finished strong against Moses, 38- 14.
Jordan and Galloway led with 12 and 10 points, followed by Strother 8 and Taylor Burkett 5.
Jordan scored 86 points on the year, for a 7.8 ppg average.
Eighth Grade B
With three straight wins, these junior Ladycats claimed a 9-2 season.
Jacksonville fell first, 27-7, with Michelle Stewart sinking 7 points. Kirsti Molloy chipped in 5.
Henderson put up a fight before falling 18-16. Stewart again led with 6 points, while Alexis Gentry added 4.
In their last outing, the B team won 18-12 over Moses.
Stewart chipped in 8 points and finished as high scorer on the year with 35 points.
Molloy and Sierra Kennedy added 4 points each.
Seventh Grade A
The seventh grade A team finished its perfect season with a dominating 27-0 shut-out of Jacksonville.
Bailee Brown knocked down 13 points, followed by Malinda Moorman with 6 and Anna Hayden with 4.
Brown had 79 total points for a 9.8 ppg average.
Seventh Grade B
The B team finished a frustrating year with a 28-14 loss to Lufkin. Angela Knight had 4 points. Savannah Bell, Kenslie Dews, Victoria Taylor and Katherine Weathers all had 2.
Dews scored 31 on the year for a 6.2 ppg average
