Aaron Whitesides

Masonic graveside rites for Walter Aaron Whitesides, 94, of Troup were held Feb. 10 at the Bradford Cemetery, Troup, under the auspices of the Dixie Masonic Lodge, #272, Troup.

Burial was under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.

Mr. Whitesides died Feb. 8, 2008 in a Tyler hospital. He was born Dec. 27, 1913 in Troup to the late Walter Mar vin and Bessie Mae Hampton Whitesides. He was a lifetime resident of Troup.

Mr. Whitesides was a retired farmer and carpenter. He was a member of the Henry's Chapel United Methodist Church and the Dixie Masonic Lodge #272, Troup.

He married Ruby Kersh on Feb. 8, 1937 in Bossier City, La.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Wash Whitesides, James Whitesides and Willie Whitesides and a sister, Mary Dolohite.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Ruby Whitesides, Troup; a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Diane Whitesides, Whitehouse; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirlyn and Dudley Chappell, Tyler; two brothers, Marshall Whitesides, Houston and Vaughn Whitesides, Florida; a sister, Patsy Divers, Arp; four grandchildren and their spouses, Danny and Teresa Chappell , Palestine, Linda and Tony Ray and Polly and Rob Chennault all of Tyler, and Dusty and Amanda Whitesides , Whitehouse; seven great grandchildren, Michael Ray, Zack Ray, Kelly Chappell, Madison Chennault, Olivia Chennault, Griffin Chennault, and Blake Whitesides; and numerous nieces and nephews.
