The First Ladies drill team will host their annual Spring Spectacular on Monday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. in Wildcat Arena at Whitehouse High School.
The show will feature the routines the drill team is performing this season at various competitions including those held in Austin, Garland and Kilgore. The audience can expect to be entertained by a variety of dances from the First Ladies, First Ladies Officers, Honor Guards and WHS dance classes.
The drill team will get the audience tapping their feet as they perform a fast-paced jazz routine to the song "Money" and an attention-grabbing modern routine to "Purple Rain." A crowd favorite will be the disco medley they will perform on unique boxes, bringing back memories of the 1970s.
The First Ladies Officers are sure to entertain as they perform an intricate modern routine to an instrumental song, a graceful lyrical routine to "Time after Time" and a dazzling jazz routine to "Le Jazz Hot" that will also include distinctive props. The officers won many awards at a recent competition held in Austin, placing second in the competition among many 5A schools.
Each officer will perform a solo of their choice that was choreographed specifically for them. The 2007-2008 officers are Capt. Dru Dawkins, First Lt. Rachel Lunsford, senior officers Rachel Marble, Codi Potter and Laura Viergever, along with junior officer Samantha Draper.
WHS art students will also present a gallery of artwork for the community to enjoy.
Tickets will be available at the door for $5 for adults and $3 for students. This annual event offers an opportunity for the drill team and art students to share their talent and hard work with the community.
