Debate teams head to state

Four students from Troup High School have qualified for the UIL state cross examination meet in Austin March 10-15.

Charlie Ralph and Zach Davis won second place, and Kayla Bright and Jared Ayres finished fourth at the district meet.

Troup's CX debate team participated in tournaments at Van High School, Robert E. Lee and Spring Hill prior to the district meet, and also hosted a match with Tatum and Overton on Wednesday.

This year's cross examination topic required extensive research for teams to debate: The United States federal governement should substantially increase its public health assistance to Sub-Saharan Africa.
