Ladycats' postseason ends with last-second loss, 57-56

Despite leading most of the way, the Ladycats lost a heartbreaking bi-district contest to Mount Pleasant, 57-56, Tuesday.

Whitehouse led by one point with six seconds remaining, but a missed free thrown gave Mount Pleasant one last chance. A layup with no time remaining ended the Ladycats season at 25-10.

Whitehouse jumped out to a 20-10 first quarter advantage and led by 16 at one point in the second.

Mount Pleasant roared back in the third, outscoring the Ladycats by 13 points to even things up at 40-all entering the final period.

Led by Alicia Cordova's 22 points and eight rebounds, Whitehouse took another seven-point lead before the Lady Tigers made their final surge, a 9-2 run for a 50-49 lead with 3:33 remaining.

From there, the teams traded baskets before Mount Pleasant pulled off the last-second win.

Shelly Williams scored 12 points, with Jordan Knight adding 8, Caroline Perrier 6, Kayla Mason 5 and Haylee Aldredge 3.
