Tyler Aggie Moms' Club meeting

 

The Tyler Aggie Moms' Club will meet Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. at Pollard Methodist Church in Tyler. Bring scissors, hot glue guns, and sewing machines to help with the many projects underway for the annual Aggie Moms' Boutique. Vietnam Vets meet

Vietnam Veterans of America will meet on Thursday, Feb. 21 at Traditions at 7 p.m. All veterans are welcome. For info, Robbie 903-876-4935 or Roger 903-570-0618.

Dulcimer lessons offered

The Jacksonville Jammers will meet Saturday, Feb. 23, 5:30- 8 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center at 302 S. Bolton St. in Jacksonville. They offer free beginning and intermediate mountain dulcimer lessons. All acoustic instruments are welcome.

Parkinsonians of East Texas meeting

Parkinsonians of East Texas will meet Thursday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at East Texas Medical Center Pavilion, 801 Clinic Dr., Tyler. The speaker will be Francis "Toni" Dowdy of ETMC EAP Coordinator/ Behavioral Health Center. The topic will be dealing with depression and Parkinsons Disease. Parking is free for the meeting.

YMCA holds dance

The Whitehouse YMCA will hold a country and western dance for ages 18 and up on Friday, March 7, 7-10 p.m. $3 per single and $5 per couple. Call 903-839-9622 for more information.

Whitehouse library activities

Story time is every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Regular library hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday 11-4. Questions? Call the library at 903-839- 2949 or email at whitehouselibrary@hotmail.com.

WH Recycle Center

Regular hours of operation for the Whitehouse Recycle Center are on Wednesdays from 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. as well as the first and third Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Ave.

Women's health seminar offered

"Finding Balance" is a seminar on women's health issues begin offered free of charge on Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. at Health Plus, 2010 Sybil Ln., Tyler. Facilitator is Brenda Flowers RN.

Church Activities

Bluegrass gospel music at Mixon

Mixon Missionary Baptist Church is hosting Bluegrass Gospel Music and supper on Saturday, March 1. Supper starts at 4:30 p.m. followed by the music at 6. The church is located on Hwy 135N between Troup and Jacksonville. Call Ms. Kirby 903- 842-4774 for more information.

Bascom UMC hosts breakfast

The Bascom United Methodist Church on FM 848 hosts breakfast the last Saturday of the month from 8:30 -10 a.m. A full breakfast meal is served and donations are accepted.

Sports Activities

TYA baseball/softball sign up

Final registration day for the TYA 2008 baseball and softball summer league will be held at the Troup Baseball/Softball complex on Hwy. 135 on Saturday, Feb. 23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $50 per player with a discount for siblings. Those interested in coaching should register then as well. New players must bring a copy of their official birth certificate and fees to the registration event.

School Activities

Troup HS sets registration meeting

A registration meeting for parents of students in grades 9-11 is set for Thursday, Feb. 21, 6-7:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

WHS parents to meet

Whitehouse HS PTSA is set to meet on Monday, Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the commons area. Junior students and parents are asked to attend to help with plans for prom and senior parents are asked to attend to meet for work on Project Graduation Lock In. Call Pat at 903-534-9727 for more information.

Whitehouse City Council to meet

Whitehouse City Council will meet Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. in the Whitehouse City Council and Court chambers at 311 E. Main.
