Ladycats blank Mavs; boys varsity falls, 3-1

The Ladycats traveled to Marshall on Friday night under dark and cloudy skies, but their sights were clearly set on a win. They had just come off their first district loss in four years and they were not planning on a repeat of that.

Lindsay Pritchard started the scoring off with an unassisted goal within the first 14 minutes of the game. She quickly scored her second with an assist by Heather Lofties.

The third goal was a beautiful drive by Brittany Gonzales. The half was finished by a goal from Kelli Hill with the assist by Pritchard, giving the Ladycats a 4-0 lead at the half.

The second half was similar to the first with Whitehouse bombarding the goal with attempts. Whitehouse shot 47 times to Marshall's one attempt, which was handled nicley by Carley Page.

Heather Lofties placed a perfect corner kick to Pritchard who scored. Brittany Millican took the ball into the goal for an unassisted goal, with the final score of the game hit by Gonzales with an assist by Elyssa Parker.

The 7-0 win moves the Ladycats to 8-1 in district and 11-2 on the year.

As the Ladycats work through the second half of district play, the team welcomed back Kayla Mason from the girls basketball team as a defensive player.

Playing with several players sick or injured, the Whitehouse boys varsity fell short 3-1 hosting Marshall. Ace Estrella scored the lone Wildcat goal on a fast break, while two of Marshall's scores came from free kicks.

The boys JV blanked the Mavericks 3-0.
