Elsie I. Welch

Services for Elsie I. Welch, 81, of Troup were held Feb. 25, at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup, with the Reverend Jim Norman officiating. Burial was in the Union Grove Cemetery near Troup. Mrs. Welch died Feb. 23, in a Tyler hospice facility.

She was born Sept. 7, 1926 in Tyler, to the late Charlie Otis Reeves and Lillie Mae Bogle Reeves.

Mrs. Welch moved to Troup from Houston in 1978. While in Houston, she was employed by K-Mart for 10 years in cosmetic sales. She was a member of the Union Grove Baptist Church.

She married William E. 'Bill' Welch, Jr. in Wright City Oct. 31, 1945. He preceded her in death May 9, 2003.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Larry Dickerson and a sister, Ethel McDaniel.

Survivors include a son, Larry Welch, Troup; a daughter, Linda Dement, Giddings; grandchildren and their spouses, Jenna Welch, Leah Welch, Melinda and Matt Wisdom, Margaret Dickerson, Angie and Marty Stanfield, and Alicia and Jerry Ingram; and numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Kenneth McDaniel, Charles McDaniel, Steven McDaniel, Chris McDaniel, Josh Teague, Matt Wisdom, and Johnny Carrizales.
