Cecil Nash

Graveside services for Cecil Nash, 72, of Troup were held Feb. 25, at the Rucker Cemetery, Troup, with the Reverend Jerry Hawbaker officiating, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.

He was born May 6, 1935 in Kilgore, to the late Cecil Christopher Nash and Ruby Reed Nash. Mr. Nash was a graduate of Quitman High School and Henderson County Junior College where he earned a football scholarship for two years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and also played football on the U.S. Army team while stationed in Germany.

Mr. Nash was a 20 year employee of G.E., retiring in 1978. He was a member of the West Duval Baptist Church, Troup.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lou McQueen and Ruth Ann Wood.

He married Sue Cook, in Crockett, May 24, 1958.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sue Nash, Troup; three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Robert Wall, Overton, Bonnie and Tony Thomas and Martha and Mark McDougal, all of Troup; five brothers, John Nash and Tommy Nash, both of Chandler, Clarence Nash, Austin, Jerry Nash, Red Springs, and Jackie Nash, Quitman; a sister, Dorothy Petty, Kilgore; seven grandsons, Danny Thomas, Troy McDougal, Aaron McDougal, Jacob McDougal, John McDougal, Jonah McDougal, and Douglas McDougal; and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers were Danny Thomas, Omar Marriquin, Troy McDougal, Aaron McDougal, Jacob McDougal, John McDougal, Jonah McDougal, and Douglas McDougal.
